Due to ongoing renovations at Teaneck Library, the Eco Book Club will be held at Teaneck Creek Conservancy at 20 Puffin Way in Teaneck.

In The Story of a Black Mother's Garden, poet and scholar Camille T. Dungy reflects on a seven-year journey to diversify her garden in the mostly white community of Fort Collins, Colorado. When she and her family relocated there in 2013, the community enforced strict rules on what could and couldn’t be planted in residential gardens. In defiance of these restrictive, homogenous policies that stifled the potential and beauty of nature, Dungy uses the variety of plants, herbs, vegetables, and flowers she cultivates as a metaphor to argue how uniformity threatens the planet’s future. She also emphasizes the importance of fostering diverse, intersectional language in national environmental discussions as the key to its protection.
